Consul General Ren Gongping attended the Graduation Ceremony of Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences in the University of Queensland on December 17,2007.

At the ceremony, the Father of Brisbane's Chinatown, Eddie Liu, OBE OAM, was awarded the Honorary Doctorate of the University of Queensland.

The award, which was based on community service, career distinction and contribution to the University, was presented as part of UQ's annual graduation ceremonies.

Consul General Ren Gongping extended his warm congratulations to Mr.Liu. He wished Mr.Liu healthy and hoped he would continue to make contributions to the China-Queensland relations.

Consul General Ren Gongping also thanked the University of Queensland for this award and its emphasis on communication and co-operation with Chinese universities.
