Acting Consul- General Li Zhou Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Confucius Classroom in Cairns
On 25th May , Ms. Li Zhou, Acting Consul-General of the People's Republic of China in Brisbane, visited Cairns to attend the opening ceremony of the Confucius Classroom at Cairns Distance Education School. In her speech, Ms. Zhou encouraged students to learn more about China's history and culture by learning Chinese language and to make important contribution to friendship between Chinese and Australian people in the future.

The Cairns Distance Education School is the only distance education school in northern Queensland. More than 900 students of different grades learn Chinese through distance education. Those young students are so interested in and enthusiastic about learning Chinese though some of them are located far away from Cairns.

In the afternoon, Ms. Zhou also met with more than 20 teachers and volunteers who were engaged in Chinese teaching. She encouraged them to work hard to trigger among more pupils, state high students and the people in business circle the interest of learning Chinese language and the love for Chinese culture.
