Consul-General Dr. Xu Jie Pays a Courtesy Call on Governor of Queensland
On 19th July, Consul-General Dr Xu Jie paid a courtesy call on His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland, exchanged views with the Governor on China-Australia and China-Queensland relations and strengthening high-level contacts.

Consul-General Dr. Xu recalled President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Australia in 2014, which lifted the China-Australia relations to comprehensive strategic partnership, and the official visit by Premier Li Keqiang early this year, which further boosted the bilateral relations. Dr. Xu said, China-Queensland relations forms an integral part of China-Australia ties, the exchanges and cooperation between China and Queensland remain in good momentum in the fields of trade and economic, education, tourism, science and technology and culture. The future of the relations lies in the hands of the youth. The Consulate General would continue to build platforms for communication and exchanges between teachers and young students from both sides, and thus to lay the solid foundation for the bilateral relations in future.

Governor Paul de Jersey welcomed Dr. Xu as the new Chinese Consul-General in Brisbane, and said Queensland-China relations are of great significance to Queensland. China is an important economic and trade partner, as well as a major source of international tourists and students, which in turn enhanced the vibrant people-to-people exchanges between China and Queensland. The contact between the youth is conducive to the deepening of mutual understanding. The Governor expressed his willingness in collaboration with the Consulate General to further develop Queensland-China relations henceforward.
