Hon. Robbie Katter MP,
Cr Joyce McCulloch,Mayor of Mt Isa,
Cr Greg Campbell, Mayor of Cloncurry,
Minister-Counselor Huang Rengang,
Mr. Guo Wenqing, Chairman of MMG Limited,
Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon.
I am very pleased to partake in the opening ceremony of Dugald River mining project in the area of Mount Isa,  witnessing another important outcome of the investment cooperation between Chinese company and its partners in Queensland. On behalf of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Brisbane, I would like to express our sincere congratulations to MMG and his business partners for making this event possible.
Queensland is rich in mineral resources. The mining industry has made great contribution to the economic and social development of Queensland for years. China is Queensland's important source of foreign investment. By the end of 2016, Chinese companies have invested about 23.2 billion US dollars in Queensland. In Mount Isa and Cloncurry Mineral zone alone, three Chinese companies have invested over 1 billion US dollars.
As one of the world's known highest-grade zinc deposits, Dugald River will rank among the world's top ten zinc mines when goes into operation. It will bring a lot of jobs and taxes to Queensland, and become another example of the win-win cooperation.
Queensland is an important force for the development of China-Australia relations. China and Queensland are politically friendly and have solid foundation in economic and trade cooperation. Chinese Consulate-General in Brisbane will, as always, work with all walks of life in Queensland to promote  pragmatic cooperation in fields of economy and trade and all others between China and Queensland.
Last but not the least, I wish Dugald River project a great success.
Thank you.
