The Spring Festival is an important traditional festival, when people convey hopes and good wishes for the coming year, and celebrated by the Chinese people and overseas Chinese around the world.
This 7th China festival held by the Chinese community Queensland is to celebrate the spring festival, and is with rich programs, including celebration parade, and large theatrical performances as well. It attracts participation of more than 40 Chinese associations in Queensland, which is unprecedented in scale.
This activity shows how much Chinese community love and inherit the splendid Chinese traditional culture. It also reflects the spirit of positive outlook, harmony and unity. The event provides a window through which Australian friends understand Chinese culture deeper, thus is conducive to promoting friendship between our two peoples.
On behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in Brisbane, I would like to thank the United Council of Chinese Associations Queensland for organizing such a wonderful event and all the Chinese associations and overseas Chinese for their enthusiasm. We also want to thank the Queensland State Government, Brisbane City Council and people from all circles for your valuable support to this event.
Overseas Chinese in Queensland are diligent, dedicated and caring, and have made important contributions to the development of local economy, society and multiculturalism. They also play a role of bridge for China-Australia friendship and pragmatic cooperation. We hope that Chinese community will carry forward fine traditional Chinese culture, and make greater contribution in promoting the friendship between our two peoples.
As I conclude, I wish the event a full success and wish you all a happy Chinese new year, an auspicious year of the dog! Thank you!
