Leaders of Chinese Communities, dear friends,
Good afternoon!
Chinese New Year is the grandest, liveliest and most important traditional festival for Chinese people. We are glad to celebrate the 8th Brisbane Chinese Festival in this auspicious season.
Today, H.E. Ambassador Cheng, came all the way from Canberra to attend this event. We are joined by so many distinguished guests and friends from all circles in Australia and Queensland. Your presence is in itself a valuable support to the Festival and great encouragement to Chinese community in Queensland.
This year's celebration, compared with last year, engages more participants and associations, and stages with more abundant programs including celebration parade, street performances, temple fair, "Culture of China, Festival of Spring" performances and many other more. The Chinese Consulate-General will also introduce consular services to the public at the site.
The Brisbane Chinese Festival opens a window for Australians, Queenslanders in particular, to deepen their knowledge of China, Chinese culture and the Chinese community in Queensland, thus will effectively enhance China-Australia, China-Queensland friendship and enrich the multiculturalism of Queensland. We are here to share the joy of the Chinese Spring Festival and the unique charm of Chinese culture.
On behalf of the Chinese Consulate-General in Brisbane, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Queensland Chinese United Council, for organizing this wonderful event, and all other Chinese societies and overseas Chinese for your participation. My thanks also goes to people from all walks of life in Queensland and Brisbane for your strong support to the festival.
Finally, I wish the festival a full success, wish you and your families healthy and happy in the year of the pig!
Thank you!
